GEORGE M. MORVIS
Founder, President and CEO

An expert in strategic business, marketing and financial communications issues, George has advised CEOs, senior executives, corporations and nonprofit associations over four decades on strategic growth initiatives, financial services and financial communications issues.

A journalism graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana, George has an MBA from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School executive management program.

He began his career as director of public relations for the Illinois Bankers Association (“IBA”), after serving a two-year stint in the U.S. Army Intelligence Command. He was named Executive Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of the IBA, a position he held for six years prior to founding Financial Shares Corporation.

Active in several organizations, George is a past president of the University of Illinois Alumni Association; past chairman of the State of Illinois Institute of Entrepreneurship Education; past chairman and current board member of EconIllinois; an emeritus advisory board member at Hinsdale Hospital; and, a past chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the University of Illinois College of Business. He has served on the faculty of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.

George has served on the board of directors of SeaBright Insurance Holdings, Inc. (NYSE) and was chairman of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. The Company was sold to Enstar Group Limited in February, 2013. He has also served on the Boards of Blue Star Energy (acquired by AEP in 2012) and River Branch Holdings, LLC (acquired by Piper Jaffray Companies in 2016). He currently serves on the boards of directors of two privately held companies: Allsup, Inc. and InteQ. George also serves as a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Retirement Trust Committee.

He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago, the Senior Roundtable of the National Investor Relations Institute and numerous other business and social organizations.

Director

As President & CEO of FSC Hawaii, Inc. a Hawaii-based affiliate of Financial Shares Corporation, Morvis, Jr. provides strategy and investor relations consulting and execution support to FSC’s client base, as well as strategic advisory services to companies looking to invest in Hawaii. He also serves as Principal of Waha, Watson & Wescadian, LLC, which provides strategic advisory and project development services, and principal investing capabilities.

Morvis has served in executive leadership roles for several publicly held companies. Most recently, he served as President and designated segment manager of Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation’s (NYSE: MIC) Hawaii operating segment, MIC Hawaii Holdings, where he oversaw a variety of operations for the $300 million+ (revenue), 800+ (employee) business, including Hawaii’s sole gas utility and largest propane distribution company, Hawaii Gas, and a number of small entities dedicated to lowering the cost and improving the reliability of energy in the state, including solar, solar plus storage, and CHP solutions.

From 2012 to 2017, Morvis served as Vice President of Corporate Development for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (NYSE: ALEX), where he was responsible for all non-real estate investment for Hawaii’s premier publicly held company. In addition to overseeing the corporate development, investor relations and strategic planning functions, his primary focus was on generating Hawaii-centric growth through infrastructure and renewable energy investments.

Morvis received his MBA in 1993 from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he majored in marketing, finance and international business. Morvis also holds a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Morvis previously served as a director of Hawaii Gas, Pohaku Pa’a, LLC (holding company for HC&D, Hawaii’s largest cement company), and GLP Asphalt (Hawaii’s largest importer of asphaltic concrete).

Morvis resides in Kalaheo, Kauai, HI.

DONNA M. FLYNN
Senior Consultant

An economics graduate of Northwestern University, Donna joined the Northern Trust Company’s public funds division in 1985. In the early nineties she was recruited by Banc One (now J.P. Morgan Chase) and named president and market manager for Banc One’s northwest Chicago-area market region responsible for all retail, private and business banking. In 1997, Donna became national sales and service manager for Banc One Mortgage Corporation, the position she held before joining Financial Shares in 2000.

Donna also serves as CEO of Financial Shares Corporation’s sister company, SkillsMastery Group, which provides executive coaching to middle and senior level executives in the areas of sales, management and leadership. An expert on leadership, Donna has presented at national and international conferences and is frequently interviewed on leadership issues and trends by broadcast and other media outlets. She is a certified executive coach and a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute.
